The Story
We Were Here is mostly made up of standalone gag strips, but once in a while there’s a storyline that builds on things that have happened in the past. Here’s what you might need to know.
Brendan found out that his longtime girlfriend Natalie had been cheating on him and he broke up with her. Then, in an alcohol fueled depression, he slept with his best friend, Carolina.
The two dated for a while, and when Brendan was forced to find a new place to live, he ended up moving in with Carolina. Unbeknownst to him was the fact that she had applied for a job on the other side of the country, which she was eventually offered.
Carolina moved to Vancouver and started her new job, leaving Brendan in Toronto sharing a house with Daniel, Josh and Eric.
But Carolina is starting to get homesick…
The Cast
Brendan Brooks
Our Hero. Brendan is just this guy, you know? He lives in Toronto, he’s a movie buff, he wants to be a writer, he likes videogames and he hates spiders. Brendan is prone to having odd dreams and can drift off into his own imagination at any moment.
Brendan and Carolina are currently in a long distance relationship following Carolina’s move to Vancouver.
Carolina NorthCarolina is Brendan’s best friend and sometime girlfriend. She’s a competent guitarist, but not much of a songwriter. She secretly enjoys all the nerd stuff that Brendan has made her watch with him.
Carolina is currently working as a production assistant on a local news show in Vancouver and living with her cousin, Vanessa.
Daniel JonesDaniel is… well…this about says it all.
Joshua Johnson & Eric EllisJosh and Eric are artists, but not good ones.
They may be alien-hunting secret agents. They are always together. Always. Scientists think they may exist in a symbiotic relationship like the birds that clean hippo teeth, but that’s stupid. They’re just in love.
They’re sharing a house with Brendan and Daniel.
